Harvesting Knowledge for
the Future at the 2004 Fall Conference!
Our southern Appalachian Mountains feature one of the
most varied and long lasting fall color changes in the world. An explosion
of reds, yellows and orange that signal the end of one season and the
beginning of another. Even across the Piedmont and into the Coastal Plains,
Fall’s arrival paints the landscape with breath taking beauty and once again
reminds us that . . . change is constant!
As we change gears from Summer to Fall, we prepare ourselves for our much
anticipated 2004 Fall Conference. This year’s conference will be held
September 22 - 25 at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in
Greensboro, North Carolina. Entitled “Harvesting Knowledge for the Future,”
this event is packed full of information designed to help healthcare
administrators better understand our changing industry and to provide you
with the necessary tools to address change effectively and successfully!
Our keynote speaker will be William F. Jessee, MD, FACMPE, the President and
Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA),
the nation’s leading voice for group medical practice. An internationally
well-known public speaker on healthcare issues, especially managed care
strategies and quality of care, Dr. Jessee will present, “Surviving and
Thriving in Difficult Times: Tricks of the Trade for Better Performing
Practices.”
Before joining MGMA in 1999, Dr. Jessee served for three years as Vice
President for Quality and Managed Care Standards at the American Medical
Association (AMA), where he led the AMA’s activities in clinical guidelines,
quality improvement, and accreditation. He also holds academic appointments
as Clinical Professor of Preventive Medicine and Biometrics at the
University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, and as Adjunct
Professor of Health Policy and Administration at the University of North
Carolina School of Public Health, Chapel Hill. Dr. Jessee is the author of
more than 70 scientific articles, books, and book chapters.
In the breakout sessions, we will be addressing the essential elements of an
efficient, high-output healthcare practice. Some of this year’s breakout
sessions include: “Improving Your Revenue Cycle,” “Developing Your
Leadership Skills,” Today’s Technologies Update,” “Generational
Differences,” “Tort Reform,” and more. We also have Steve Keene and Carol
Scheele returning from the North Carolina Medical Society to give their
“North Carolina Legislative and Lawsuit Update.” See pages 4 and 5 of this
program for complete conference schedule details.
As always, we are constantly listening to feedback from our attendees,
exhibitors and members regarding making the conference as effective as
possible. This year, the Wednesday Welcome Reception will be held in the
Exhibit Hall. The ACMPE Breakfast on Friday morning will include a speaker
and attendance will qualify for ACMPE credits. We’ve also restructured
Friday’s schedule so that the conference now closes at 12:30pm. We’re
excited about these changes and hope they wll help you get even more out of
your Fall Conference experience!
We’ll see you in September. You can make room reservations at the Grandover
by calling 800-472-6301 or 336-294-1800. Make sure to mention your
affiliation with NCMGM.
