Developing Your Leadership Skills
By Rich Schlentz, Corporate Speaker, Dale Carnegie International

NOTE: Rich Schlentz will be one of our speakers at the 2004 NCMGM Fall Conference.  Rich will be presenting "Developing Your Leadership Skills" on Thursday, September 23rd.

I am passionate about timeless, fundamental principles for success.  These principles transcend industry boundaries, and when applied consistently, impact our lives both personally and professionally.  My topic for the Fall Conference is titled, “Leadership FUN-DUH-MENTALS”FUN: Many employees are overworked and under excited.  Passion and energy are critical in order to compete in today’s business environment.  Leaders who bring genuine enthusiasm to the workplace will help create meaning for their people.  DUH: Today more than ever we need leaders who dare to be sincere and authentic.  If we are “real”, people will listen and follow.  MENTAL: Using human relations principles, I will help you create strategies that motivate others to action and gain enthusiastic cooperation.

Peter Drucker once said, “The only things that happen naturally in an organization are friction, confusion, and malperformance.  Everything else is the result of leadership.”  No longer will others follow us because of our title, as present day leaders, we must earn “followership” …it’s all about the FUN-DUH-MAENTALS.

Originally from New Jersey, Rich Schlentz is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  He was a three time NCAA National Champion with the UNCG Men’s Soccer Team.  A former small business entrepreneur and corporate executive, he has played key roles in several corporate mergers and acquisitions.  Currently he is a Corporate Speaker, Trainer and Sales Consultant for Dale Carnegie International where he works with individuals, teams, and companies equipping them with the tools to create “breakthrough” performance both personally and professionally.  Rich resides in Greensboro, NC with his wife and two daughters.

“Rich Schlentz comes across exciting and refreshing.  He speaks from the heart and offers a message of encouragement sprinkled with humor and enthusiasm.  It is speakers such as this that result in cultivating and inspiring change from within.  Thanks for a great evening.”  Larry Plott, Board Member, Eastern Region Leadership Training for Youth
