Laurie was a hospital VP at age 22. At age 26, she became the youngest individual ever to achieve board certification as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). She is also a board certified Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE), and a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).

Allison helps lead MGMA’s advocacy efforts to assist medical group practices with meeting the challenges posed by today's complex health care marketplace. She focuses on federal legislative and regulatory issues such as the Affordable Care Act, Medicare enrollment, Medicare Advantage and Physician Compare. Additionally, Allison helps coordinate advocacy activities with MGMA volunteers. She joined the association in 2009 and served as a government affairs representative for two years before moving into her current position.

Dr. Stuart Hamilton is the founder and CEO of the Eau Claire Cooperative. He attended Trinity College, in Hartford, CT and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. After training in pediatrics, he joined the Commissioned Corps of the U. S. Public Health Service and served in rural Chester, South Carolina. It was eye opening to witness the level of need and oppression, and he purposed to build a more effective and compassionate healthcare system.

 

 

 

 

Regina Holliday, Patient Rights Activist, Artist, Author, Speaker & Founder of the Walking Gallery

Regina Holliday is a Maryland-based patient advocate and artist known for painting a series of murals depicting the need for clarity and transparency in medical records. Holliday’s artwork became part of the national healthcare debate and was reported on in the mainstream press, as well as reviewed by such journals as BMJ and APA. She began an advocacy movement called “The Walking Gallery,” for which medical providers and advocates wear “patient story” paintings on the backs of business suits. She authored The Walking Wall: 73 Cents to the Walking Gallery.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Carlos Jackson, Ph. D

Dr. Jackson obtained a doctorate in clinical psychology and has been a health services researcher for over 15 years. He has published widely in academic journals on the effectiveness of a wide variety of clinical interventions in real-world settings. He left Columbia University in 2011 to direct program evaluation at Community Care of North Carolina. Drawing on his background, he applies rigorous methodologies to evaluations of different programs across the state. Dr. Jackson is a thought leader in how to evaluate whether a clinical program is working and for whom it is most effective. Since coming to CCNC, he has helped the organization maximize the use of its resources through development of knowledge about what works best for whom.

Mary McCaskill, BS, RT-R has worked in the healthcare field as a Radiographer, PACS & RIS Analyst/Administrator and most recently as the Health IT Manager at the North Carolina Area Health Education Centers Program. She has degrees in Radiography, Computer Networking and Business Administration and combines this education with many years of front-line healthcare experience to provide HIT management, support and guidance for the NC AHEC Practice Support transformation coaches and the practices they serve.

She is a former board member and president of the MA/RI MGMA and is the current Chair Elect of the Eastern Section leadership team. Jane has 20 + years of practice management experience in the academic as well as private practice settings. Currently Jane is working at Carteret General Hospital assisting them with the hospital owned multi-specialty practice, Carteret Medical Group.

Melanie Phelps serves as associate executive director of the NCMS Foundation, and as deputy general counsel for the North Carolina Medical Society, where she has been employed for 14 years. Melanie focuses on a wide variety of health policy issues and represents the interests of the physician community in public and private forums. She provides research on legislative matters and general legal and policy guidance on many of the issues impacting physicians and their practices, including the transition to value-driven health care and end of life issues. Melanie organized and directs the Toward Accountable Care Consortium and Initiative as well as the NC ACO Collaborative.
